You must have administrator privileges to complete these steps

Do one of the following, depending on your version of Windows:

• (Windows 7) Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs And Features.
• (Windows Vista) Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs And Features.
• (Windows XP) Choose Start > Control Panel, and double-click Add Or Remove Programs.

Select Adobe Digital Editions, and then click the option to remove or uninstall the program.
Restart your computer and reinstall Adobe Digital Editions.

Download the installer for Windows by clicking ADE_4_0_Installer.zip as shown below. Then, extract the .zip file.

Installer downloads to your computer's downloads folder by default.

Double-click the ADE_4.0_Installer.exe file on your desktop to start the installation.


When a message appears asking you to trust the publisher, click Run again. You can safely download the Adobe Digital Editions installer from Adobe.

It's necessary to have administrator privileges to complete these steps.

Drag the digitaleditions1x5 folder to the Trash, and empty the Trash.

Finish installing or uninstalling any other applications.

Uninstall any earlier versions of Adobe Digital Editions.

Note:

If you clicked the wrong Mac OS X platform, an error message appears. Close the message box and click the correct link to restart the installation.

Click Open in the File Download screen to start the installation.
Note: If your connection times out, click Save, instead of Open, to save the installer package to your desktop.
If necessary, unzip the .zip file. If you're using Safari as your browser, or if Firefox is set up to unzip files, the file unzips automatically.
Double-click the .pkg file to start the installer, and follow the onscreen instructions.

Digital Editions uses the accessibility features on Windows and Mac operating systems to provide accessibility, including support for high contrast modes and support for resizing of book text.

Digital Editions also offers enhanced keyboard support (with tab navigation, keyboard shortcuts, and high-contrast support).

Authorizing and de-authorizing Adobe Digital Editions

If you are borrowing books from the library, or plan to read eBooks on multiple devices, authorize Adobe Digital Editions using either an Adobe ID or a Vendor ID.

If you are having trouble downloading or opening books, de-authorize Adobe Digital Editions, and then reauthorize it again.

You can read ePUBs and PDFs using Adobe Digital Editions.

You can open a book in Adobe Digital Editions by double-clicking the book file, or you can open Adobe Digital Editions, click File > Add to Library to add it to your Adobe Digital Editions library. Then, double-click the book in the library to open it.

To scroll through ePUBs, use the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. To scroll through a PDF, use the scroll bar on the right side of the screen.

While reading a book, you can mark it in multiple ways - add notes, highlights, and bookmarks. For more information, see Bookmarks, notes, highlights, and underlining in Adobe Digital Editions.

If you have authorized your computer using an ID, you can copy the book to another computer, run Adobe Digital Editions, and authorize with the same ID to open the book.

You can find your books in the My Digital Editions folder in your computer’s documents folder. Locate the book you want to copy, and transfer it to the other computer. On the other computer, double-click the book or drag it into ADE.
